Engineering

CSAI provides Independent Engineering Services for double-liability protection when providing the following services:

Adhesive Load Testing:

In accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Labour guidelines, all adhesive anchors must incorporate either (4) 5/8" inserts or (3) 3/4" inserts.  As per new code requirements, all inserts must be manufactured of stainless steel or corrosion resistant base materials.

All newly-installed adhesive anchoring points must be field tested for an axial capacity of 18kN (4,000lbs.) and approved by a proffesional engineer prior to anchors being used for the first time.  A test report shall be provided by a professional engineer certifying the new ahdesive anchor installation.

Furthermore, all adhesive anchors must be re-tested at intervals not exceeding five (5) years in accordance with code requirements.  For exisitng clients, CSAI automatically notifies the client when their system(s) are due for re-testing.  This testing procedure is always signed-off by our Independent Professional Engineer.  This service is also provided to new clients.

Load Testing of Exisitng Anchors:

All safety equipment must meet specified strength requirements.  For existing equipment where no engineering information is available, or for questionable equipment based on an inspection service, CSAI provides load testing for re-certification of equipment by our Independent Professional Engineer.

An Engineer’s Test Report is provided outlining the results of all testing procedures performed.

Engineered Drawings:

For all new or existing safety systems, an Engineer approved drawing is required.  This drawing must be stamped, signed and dated by a Professional Engineer.  Window and balcony locations must be clearly identified, measurements between anchoring points must be provided and installation details of the installed equipment must be included.  Restricted access notes must be clearly notarized where applicable.

In addition to these drawings, CSAI also provides Engineer approved rigging drawings.  These rigging drawings provide your contractors with clear rigging procedures that are to be employed.  This greatly increases liability protection for both the building owner and the contractor using the safety system.

CSAI Engineered drawings are fully coloured for better clarity and understanding.
